We currently have a great assignment for an Assistant Project Manager with one of our top clients.  As an Assistant Project Manager, you will be supporting our client, a commercial general contractor located in Washington, DC.  The Assistant Project Manager will oversee commercial buildings, educational institutions, retail, restaurant and hospitality projects.  Projects are located mainly in the Washington, DC area.

Job Responsibilities 

The Assistant Project Manager responsibilities will vary depending on the scope and magnitude of the project and will typically include the following:

  • Contract administration- owner contracts and subcontracts
  • Formulate scopes of work
  • Set up and monitor direct labor hours and costs
  • Create and manage project master schedules
  • Assist project superintendent with developing three week rolling schedule
  • Document control including daily job diaries, updating record drawings, managing submittal process, managing RFI process, and dissemination of information
  • Identify long lead items
  • Review shop drawings
  • Schedule and track materials and equipment deliveries / installations
  • Daily on-site problem-solving
  • Change management including document distribution, sub quotations collection, review change order pricing / proposals and subcontract change order issuance
  • Run weekly owner / architect / contractor construction meetings and document meeting minutes and other necessary documentation
  • Assist the project manager in project financial reporting and job costing
  • Prepare and expedite monthly project billing

Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Assistant Project Manager role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field
  • Two plus years of commercial construction experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Trustworthy, self-motivated, passionate and dedicated to high-quality work
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Windows / Word / Excel a must
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations is required
